Pulling off a successful event is no simple task. Many people think it’s all about having that golden idea, and while that certainly helps, it’s the people you hire that make all the difference. What good is an event if your AV team are useless? What good is an event if your catering is poorly organised and the food is terrible? What good is an event if your events manager is half-arsed and disinterested? The answer is: no good at all.

djYou can literally have all of the bright ideas under the sun, though unless you hire reliable event staff, you’re not going to experience success, it’s a simple as that.

So, why is it so important? Well, just as your employees are the backbone of your business, event staff are the backbone of events. Without your event staff, there will be no lights, no sound, no food, no entertainment, no order, no nothing. It would just be utter chaos.

Then again, hiring staff doesn’t automatically make your event a success either. You need to hire the right company to assist you and that takes time and research.

How Do You Know if an Events Company is Reliable or Not?

The truth is that until you get the chance to work with someone, you’ll never know for sure. However, there is much that you can do to ensure that you’re highly confident in the events company that you’re working with. So, how do you go about that?

First of all, you need to shortlist a few companies that catch your eye online and then make contact. A lot can be said about a company based on the initial contact that has been made. Notice the enthusiasm (or lack thereof) in their voice? If you’re put through to an events manager, and they seem disinterested in your event and don’t come across as particularly excited, then you should bin them off immediately. One of the most important qualities that you should always look for in an events manager is passion. Without passion, you just as will kiss your successful event goodbye.

Any reputable and reliable events company will gladly put you in contact with certain references and will have plenty examples of success stories to share with you. If you come across a company who acts a little coy and tries to avoid putting you in contact with any references, then you should be mindful of just how reputable they are.

You might find the process tedious, but it will be worth the time and effort. There’s no good rushing in with the cheapest company that comes along. You need to work with a company with passion and the evidence to back them up as being worthy of your business.
